I wanted to make a blog post about $BONT after today's action, because I think it was an almost perfect textbox example people can use to evaluate whether or not they are really understanding the basics.
My annotated images are with my thoughts and opinions at the time events were playing out, while trying to avoid any biases in my post-annotations. Hopefully, this will be useful to people who were unsuccessful with their trading of this stock today.
I did not take any trades on this stock, because:
- I don't want to blindly trade a stock first day I learn of it, so I need to know more fundamentals about it.
- The main move was early in the morning, and once these moves are done, I think most followup action is simply people chasing and making bad trading decisions, so I find it easier to make bad decisions without understanding previous trading action.
- Just not a fan of a stock that was trading at ~.30c that is now trading almost 3x that. I feel there's more reckless trading with these stocks, and things work out better than they probably should.
With that said, I still watched it carefully and considered where I'd take my trades if I did decide to jump in. However, I felt patience and discipline was the best way to play this stock, so I did not chase or try to take a higher risk, low reward play because I did not want to baghold so high up, nor give away money on a stock like this.
There were certainly some plays to be had, and some quick .10c/shr trades if you played it right, so if you capitalized on that and profited, good job! However, a lot of the spikes were really fast, and you really had to be on top of things to take advantage of them.

Part 2:
One last thing I should mention in case it was not obvious, my commentary is about the very small trading window opportunities as broken down in each section. Obviously everyone trades a different way, and these are just my views on how this stock could have been played today, but hopefully someone will find it useful if they did not have success and don't understand why.
If you have any thoughts or opinions on this content, feel free to leave a comment, as I'll take it into consideration in trying to get better myself. Thanks for reading!
