Have you studied too much? A kind of strange question to ask since most talk about how much harder they should study or are already studying.
I do feel as though many people here could be studying too much and not retaining the information they have found to actually study, always looking for the next thing to learn or book to jump into.
Personally after watching countless videos, and scanning through many books I am starting to see the same stuff over and over again through many different sources and points of view, which has brought me to begin to research how to actually study more.
Since the research has been slow and it's been hard to find new things to study I'm coming to the conclusion that there is really only a set amount of stuff you can study in this area and that once you have covered most of it you should focus on applying everything you have studied into your daily trading.
Applying it all is the hard part. Through my paper trading process I can easily see where I, more than a few times, have broken some of the main rules I so vigorously have been studying.
So maybe we have just been studying too much and just need to focus on what we have already learned or supposedly have learned to further our trading success.
Think about that and leave a comment if you agree or disagree.
Thanks!
I posted about this a little while ago and couldn't agree more. No matter how much I studied and as much sense as everything made while studying, my application of the knowledge was shit. Only through practice can you learn how to control your emotions while trading and execute trades intelligently.
I find that actively trading small positions and getting out quickly, even if taking losses, allows me more focus when studying. Winning and losing real money in small amounts helps fuel the research fire. I also think the experience is not linear. "If I know X then I will profit Y". It is both knowledge and trading. "That didn't work x 100 = realization and better trades". I like the saying 'You Earn or You Learn'.
