I opened up an E*TRADE account on September 1st, and since then I have made 5 trades. Those 5 trades have all resulted in small losses, which is not that bad because I have been cutting losses quickly. My first trade was just flat out dumb, I ended up chasing a stock because I did not go in with a set plan. I was just so eager to make it trade that I forced one. After watching Pennystocking Part 1 &2, and Htmm over the summer all I wanted to do was start trading. Now, I am realizing that watching the videos is one thing, but actually trading is a whole other beast. For me it seems like there is always one small factor that I forget that ends up biting me in the ass. Yes, being 0-5 in your first five trades stinks, but am I really mad, or discouraged? HELL NO. If I started off 5-5 I would have gotten over confident and eventually had a huge loss that would really mess me up. You've got to learn to lose before you learn how to win, not just in trading but in life. The best things in life usually follow some of the worst things in life, but only to those who keep their chin held high at all times. Just thought I would share my thoughts with you guys incase some of you are in the same situation.
you should post your trades so everyone can learn.
Yeah similar situation. And I share the same views. You must fail in order to fully understand when you are succeeding.
I made the exact same mistake on my first trade, I was so over eager to get started that I screwed it royally. Good lesson though. Thanks for the post.
I have made several trades I still make plenty of mistakes. It is a constant learning experience. I am still trying to finish HTMM, on disc 8!
