Alright ladies and gents, time to start compiling and reviewing monthly what my performance has been!
As a frame of reference, let's look at what my stats were in June:
- Total # of Trades: 130 (72/58 w/l) = 55.4% win rate
- Largest Winning Trade: $694
- Largest Losing Trade: $3,637
- Total P/L: -$4,155
- Avg Hold Time for Winners: 0 days, 21 hrs, 16 mins
- Avg Hold Time for Losers: 2 days, 17 hrs, 52 mins
And so, in my last blog I noted that I'd be cutting out all the unnecessary trades, all the pump trades, all the Trade Ideas and other similar trade suggestions. I did that having noted that my losses were mostly attributable to longer held trades, where I wasn't managing them directly. And it made a drastic improvement in my performance.
July's stats:
- Total # of Trades: 80 (48/32 w/l) = 60% win rate
- Largest Winning Trade: $1801
- Largest Losing Trade: $826
- Total P/L: +$5,184
- Avg Hold Time for Winners: 0 days, 2 hrs, 51 mins
- Avg Hold Time for Losers: 0 days, 3 hrs, 43 mins
Officially my first green month, with an expected return of $64/trade!
That said, I can still see my avg losers are the ones that I'm holding on to longer than my winners. I know the trades those stats reflect. They're the ones where I purchase too early, without a clear setup, and hold hoping they'll climb back up. And since I enter without a clear setup for entry it means I have a poor setup for exit... so I need to do better an only enter a trade where the entry makes sense.
I'll look to continue to improve, likely dropping my risk a bit, and aiming to take less trades. I want to prove consistency and more restraint this month as my biggest goals, while also looking to expand my knowledge and potentially entering more AM trades.
