Limiting myself to a 5% loss before I exit a position

ex.) $3.60 @ 100 = 346 

     5% loss is 3.42 but that doesnt include the commision

     $342+13.90 = 355.90/100 = 3.559 cents is my MENTAL STOP LOSS

share price wise, my stop loss would be 2% 

 

calculate mental stop loss for each trade. Dip buying seems to be working for me in practice for going long on stock

 

 

for taking profits

Goal is to make roughly 5% per trade. 350 to 1023 after 22 trades

ex.) buy 100 shares @ $3.60 = 360 dollars

     5% profit would be $3.78  per share(minus commision) 

     Accounting for commision fees, goal is 8.8% ~9%

     Adjusted profit $391.9 or $3.919 per share

     Goal Exit is 1.08%

 

 

Stop Loss Exit and Profit Taking are dependant on on the price to buy in

 

Initial Purchase exceeds my stop loss goals;/

200 dollars worth of shares : commision is 6.95%

250 dollars worth of shares : commision is 5.56%

 

Cutting Losses

300 dollars worth of shares : commision is 4.63% 

350 dollars worth of shares : commision is 3.97%  Exit at 5% is 346.4

400 dollars worth of shares : commision is 3.475%

450 dollars worth of shares : commision is 3.08%

500 dollars worth of shares : commision is 2.78%

556 dollars worth of shares : commision is 2.50%

 

 

Locking in Profits (increase at)

100 dollars worth of shares : 5% true Profit at 18.9 %

300 dollars worth of shares : 5% true Profit at 9.63% 

350 dollars worth of shares : 5% true Profit at 8.97%

400 dollars worth of shares : 5% true Profit at 8.475%
