Today (for me) was my biggest profit day ever. Initially my profit was at $484 on the dip buy for $HADV. I later found out that my initial order for 1500 shares at 0.9699c (that I cancelled) had still executed 600 shares at that price. Not knowing this, I then bought 1500 shares at 1.05. I then sold the 1500 shares at 1.265 (selling into strength and not getting too greedy even though the stock price was still running up). After I had sold my 1500 shares (which is all I thought I had), I had thought I profited at 484 because that is what it showed in my account. However, since I still had the 600 shares open (that I didn't know about) my profit started to drop. Since these extra 600 shares were not part of my plan, I immediately sold them. After all was said and done, My profit total was around the ~300 range. This is still the highest profit I have made to date and I have no regrets with what transpired. I am thankful for any profit I make and you should be too!
My point in sharing this with you all is to hopefully show you that it's important to stay disciplined. The way I think about it is...
If you don't have a plan, your new plan is to get out.
That's what I stayed true to and that is what I'll continue to do. There was no way for me to know that the stock would have run up or continued to drop further and quite honestly, since it wasn't in my plan, I wasn't willing to gamble on what it would or wouldn't do.
Since I maxed out on my day trades (due to the extra shares that were executed), I decided to get off my computer for the remainder of the day so that I wouldn't risk doing something dumb like entering another position and getting my account suspended for 90 days for having an additional day trade.
Anyway, I hope you all were able to profit today and I hope it was an awesome trading day. If you didn't profit, I hope you learned something. Good luck to you all.
@water_jazzy Thank you! cu there! :)
@kjs3980 thanks :) ... keep studying... I was down 500 something because I wanted to get my feet wet in the beginning (which I think a lot of us do)... I started profiting after studying a lot and trying different strategies. It's something I believe we can all accomplish...just takes time, patience, a lot of study and perserverance. Best of luck to you!
Good move!
Thanx for sharing. Great reminder to have a plan before executing & to stick to the rules.
