Back in 2015 when I first signed up with Profitly the blog section held a plethora of ideas and information about trading ideas that were being shared by new traders trying to get out of the hustle and bustle of the average 9-5, we all were seeking the golden apple that Sykes was telling us about.
Today, not so much. There are a few blogs about people’s trades but there seems to be more off comment sales pitches mixed in that have absolutely nothing to do with trading.
Blogging one’s trading experience not only helps the blogger but also might just help a fellow up and coming trader. Putting down in words the experience of a trade does help solidify one’s process as to why a trade went right or wrong and can possibly help in the next trade. Patience is a huge issue with trading, waiting for the best setup can be nerve racking. I know this from firsthand experience.
Planning out a trade and then waiting for it to come to fruition and then moving an entry or exit because I caught FOMO and the trade goes badly. Today working with a larger trading account, I have gained patience exponentially, how you might ask, well because it took a lot of hard work to save up to where I am at today and I am no longer held to the PDT rule.
I could easily trade away a boat load of money by jumping from one trade to another, but I try to choose wisely on each trade. Being able to place a large enough position so that a very small move can acquire a substantial amount of money, and of course on the flip side it can cost a lot of money and that is when you cut out quickly when the trade doesn’t go your way.
Now just because at the moment the trade slips doesn’t mean I was wrong many times it’s just the timing and having a larger account I can hold out longer if I truly believe in my thesis of my trade whereas when I had a small account I would cut the moment the trade went the wrong way and like many of us here it reverses and goes just as I had planned but I took myself out of the play and missed it altogether.
As the say goes “Trading is not easy” it takes dedication and sacrifice of time to get it down to the point you are winning more than losing.
