Nearly 3 months since I started this crazy train. I understand we need our crap together before we start trading!! Knowledge base first, and start small if using real money. Even this early on, I can see how bad habits are hard to break. I'm finding myself holding and hoping when I shouldn't, just because I don't want to pay commissions or waste trades. I really want to see profits before exiting! I definitely need to work on that. That will end up burying me when I do start trading with larger amounts once my account gets bigger.
Also learning first hand to never try to anticipate movement. Example, $TLGT. FDA approval, good thing right? Should be continued momentum right? Wrong. It's all in the reaction of news, good or bad. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Be like water.
Twitter- finding useful to gauge hype regarding my ticker I am in. Lots of flapping gums that really don't go anywhere. I refuse to fall into traps. I will say, it's super awesome to see all of the Sykes communities posts. I pay more attention those and learn from them or use them for motivation and continuation to keep it up!! My account is pretty much strictly for trading, so my feed isn't filled up with a bunch of other stuff.
I do know I feel completely out of my league, seeing screen shots of all the drawings, lines and everything else some people do to their charts. Seriously? Do I really need to know what all that is, and how to even draw them?? Fibonacci what? Did I even spell that right? I find myself Googling terms and references at random times when anything is announced pertaining to any stocks I am in. Last one was that so and so downgraded a stock to outperform from strong buy. Yeah, didn't know what that meant, but obviously downgrade is not a good word. Another one, price target. Yup, didn't know what that meant either. There are so many people that have so much knowledge, it's quite overwhelming thinking about jumping into the big pond. But everyone starts somewhere, and I am still keeping that in the forefront of my mind. KISS. We were all beginners at something. It's all in our attitudes and what we learn along the way that matters. Never stop learning. Never stop growing.
Anyone else in the same boat as me? I seriously welcome the comments!!
Yup we were all newbies at one time and the learning curve can be costly. The only indicators I use are time and historical price action.. As you mentioned keep is simple, learn the lingo and stare at charts until your eyes bleed.
Thanks you both George and Brandon!! I will study til my eyes bleed and never quit! 😊
Study Study Study and then Study some more but make sure to have some fun while doing it. You might also want to check out airplane jane, I would say she is the female Tim Sykes. Good Luck and glean all you can from this web site.
I'm feeling a lot of the same you are. I've been at this only since about Dec. I think I now know enough to hurt myself. lol. SO much to learn. But..this is such great potential in this--we've got to keep at it. Wishing you much success.
