What an awful day!
I started the day with a long position on SKYE which I held overnight hoping for a gap up. When the gap up didn't happen I set a sell order.
The sell order didn't fill and I just sat and watched as the stock went lower and lower.
Okay, I thought; this is just a morning panic - I'll try and catch the bottom and ride it up to claw back some of those losses. I bought and instead, the stock went lower. Finally, I thought, this must be it now - I bought and the stock went lower.
Then, I went into revenge mode - bought $AMC and made a small gain. I bought $BB and made a small gain (which I then lost again)
At the end of the day and a fit of madness I also bought $SAML and $SBFM - and I don't know why!!!
All told, I lost $138 today - this has been my worst day trading EVER! My small account cannot take another day like today. But, there are lessons to be learned here.
I have now worked out (what I think will be a strategy for exiting a position in the morning with minimum damage). The key here is to cut losses quickly - If I can keep the losses small then I can make sure that I do not revenge trade or over trade in some vain attempt to make back losses.
I was humbled today.
