Today is the fourth of July, for us Americans, it is our independence day. What does independence mean to you?

The dictionary defines Independence as "freedom from the control, influence, support, aid, or the like, of others."

@timothysykes says that he tries to teach us how to be independent when it comes to trading and I believe that being independent is the only way to truly be free. While most of us think that becoming rich will solve all our problems (which it wont), the truth of the matter is that we don't want to be rich...we want to be independent. We want the freedom that comes along with being independent.

The beautiful thing with being a trader is that we can be as successful as we want, as long as we're willing to make the sacrifices along the way in order to do so. Another great thing about trading is that we all have our own definitions on what "Success" is. Do you have to be a millionaire to be successful? Or does success just mean making a few extra hundred dollars a month?

My definition of success is being completely independent as a trader. While I still grind it out 5 days a week working to make someone else rich, I look forward to the day that I can finally say "I quit" and walk away from "the normal life" and start running towards my dream life. A life of true independence, that day will be my Independence day!

I can't wait for the day that I can declare my own independence. It will be a day that I will celebrate each year for the rest of my life.
