I have been paper trading since December. One of the most successful strategies that I have used, when paper trading, is buying pre-market stocks that has positive news.
I use EquityFeed and it is excellent for breaking news. Usually news breaks at 6am, 7am and 8am EST. Once news breaks they’re usually one or two stocks that gap up immediately. They’re the ones I go to instantaneously because of the gap up obviously but also because there is a surge of volume, the level 2 chart starts flashing, the bid and ask price narrows and the green candle in the pre-market chart starts soaring. As it is pre-market I don’t like to hang around in the trade too long as it can be more volatile than normal market hours so I tend to exit my paper trade after the first red minute candle. Despite the quick entries and exits I’ve make I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the percentage gains earned.
My biggest query regards the ease of entry and exit pre-market when I get into the real market and finish papertrading. Therefore which broker is best for execution pre-market? I’m based in Ireland so therefore setting up an Etrade account isn’t possible for me as too is IB as I don’t meet their financial criterion.
Any advice on the above would be greatly appreciated.
I use Alliance Trading with Das Pro - works great from Norway
I use SureTrader. You can't really use the charts etc. unless you have the desktop app but it's great with p/m and after/hours trading
Thanks you both.
