Well its been a day, I am paper trading so and experimenting at the same time. i would have come out ahead about $500 but decided to try something new.
MYSZ got the TIM alert and bought 100 shares, made $210. then got greedy and tried another scalp after a one minute pullback. did not work lost $60
XCO: stock got halted on a circuit breaker (cha chin cha ching) usually a great opportunity for a scalp. i scalped and made a clear $150 from $2.29 to 1.45ish. the stock went up to $2.49 and shorted. It dropped to $1.98 could have ended it there and made the day at $600 but held on i wanted to see what would happen. A failing shale drilling company spiking on nothing. my dreams were dashed when the stock sprang up to $2.65 and closed to $2.50 it put me in the red $350
as the man says "Take profit early, and cut losses ASAP"
what paper trading software do you use that gives you shares to short. I use TOS, but they never have shares.
I use Interactive brokers. if you have an account you coulc set up and alternative paper account that wont reset everyday. I also use TOS but their paper trading is i bit too sloppy
oh thanks. I dont think I wanna go through the trouble of opening a new account, but can I ask, what do you have against TOS?
nothing i love it. But as far as paper trading goes. its a little tricky. as for trading I'm going with IB because the commissions are alot cheaper.
