In addition to watching all of the great content here on Profit.ly, along with all of the DVD lessons, I am also making it a point to read a number of books that are on the reading lists.
I try and arrange it so that I read books while I am on the treadmill at the gym, usually every day. It's good to get away from the computer while I am still learning and there isn't much happening with the market. I'm not going to force any trades to happen. I'm also down 5 lbs.
Anyway, this is the second book I read since starting the challenge a couple of weeks ago. The first was, of course, 'An American Hedge Fund' by none other than Timothy Sykes. If you haven't already, go read that.
'How I Made $2,000,000" In The Stockmarket" by Nicolas Darvas, was a great read. It was also relatively short, you should be able to finish it inside of a day if you really wanted to.
It tells the true story of how this full time entertainer, part time trader made a small fortune on the stock market while traveling around the world and communicating with his broker through coded telegrams.
He talks about his ups and downs, and perhaps most importantly, his thought process along with way.
This all takes place around the 1950's, and it's valuable to see how much about the market really hasn't changed.
It reminded me not to pay so much attention to all of the chatter in the chatroom. Like Tim says, it's good for some things, but ignore most of it. Sometimes I think it's good to be a little detached. This guy dealt with the same sort of thing back in the 50's.
Ok that's it for the review, go read it.
I give it 5/5 stars.
If you YouTube Confessions of an Economic Hit Man by John Perkins Audio Book you can listen to it while driving to the gym and back.
@Burckhardt that would kill my weak data plan, plus I walk to the gym..but I do like audiobooks, and thanks for the suggestion.. I will add it to my list!
