I am getting ready to set up an account and not sure what to do. When using Questrade to day trade the U.S markets do u trade with Canadian funds to buy U.S stocks or do u convert the account over to U.S funds and trade with U.S dollars.

put it in as US funds. If you're using a TFSA with questrade, you have to put Canadian funds first and then change it into US funds with them. And then for withdrawals, you have to change back to Canadian. This is so they can calculate your TFSA room. Good luck

Im using Questrade too.. But just found out about https://www.virtualbrokers.com/.. But not sure if anyone is using it.. The currency conversion was my major issue with Questrade. Questrade gets your trade converted to US$ once you buy. But you also have the option to convert to US currency and trade with that.. If you want to convert back to CAD you have to move it from USD to CAD account.
@sheldonGoesBazinga I've never heard of virtualbrokers, they look interesting and especially being based in Ontario as I am. Have you looked into them much?
