A down-trending series of spikes. After what I had planned as a decent dip buy, it's next "spike" was too low to trigger my hopeful exit of .69, so I exited. From this point I expected some gentle downward bleeding, and at the time of this writing it seems to have more or less done that. Actually a slight winning trade, but the commissions outweighed the gain because the position was small. It was actually +$12.25, then -$14 for commissions. Couldn't have bet big because of low volume though.

This had been repeatedly spiking so I dip-bought. It went deep enough into the negatives that I would have normally sold if I were managing this tighter. Luckily, in this particular instance, I was managing it loosely because it was a smaller position and it did end up spiking past my sell order.

Erroneous move, which was made considerably worse by my entry error with the IB system, and the commission structure of IB. I lost an additional $297 because of forgetting that IB's system does not assume I mean to sell based on my position size (sold 100 instead of 10,000). I also paid a $97.85 commission. People seem to love IB, but I think I have to ditch it. I would call this a loss of $796 because of my own bad reasoning then a loss of $395 because of the platform/broker being wrong for me.

Shorting small to learn. Ran up about 50% the afternoon before on no news. Possible rumors/leaks. I expected a pullback. I shorted into a descending triangle. It broke upwards, forming a double top and another descending triangle. Broke upwards again forming a triple top then finally cracked below support. I watched briefly for a second crack below LOD, but bailed when it seemed to find support. I didn't want to hold at precarious levels, just in case the rumors were confirmed.

Move 4: Triggered my PDT status. Planned to dip-buy a 50% retracement of the major move at 1.36, but then chased up to 1.40. It buckled deeper past my intended dip buy, and bounced back upward luke-warm so I exited where I could. It no longer looked bullish. In hindsight, this was not a dip-buy of a flash-crash immediately after a quick run of over-bullishness. This was buying something that had recently been showing a few steady signs of losing it's energy.

Move 3: tried to dip-buy a little flash crash and then jump in on a green candle, but it went sideways so I bailed. Because the volume was so insane relative to the mkt cap I was willing to attempt a couple of dip-buy entries on the chance of it building back up into a secondary breakout. But knowing it could simply be the end of the run, I wasn't willing to hold with any kind of strong-handed mentality.

Move 2: Exited because it was reversing down from 1.63, and 1.66 had been the pre-market high. Expected resistance at 1.66 (pre-market high), and potentially around 2.25 (prior spike), or 3.25 (prior spike).

CHFS doubled the day before. News was about them being cleared to do a study. I didn't think that sounded like a big deal, but the $volume of the premarket was about 2/3 the mkt cap of the company itself. Entered at the open, but considered a lower-priced pre-market entrance because the pre-market volume was so crazy that I expected immediate spiking. Still decided to wait and see the open, then jumped in as that spike began. Exited because it hit a lower high.

Tried to short this as it broke below the prior low that morning. This gapped up about 50% pre-market. I must have been fairly confident, as I waited until this was bullishly pushing up against the morning high before I exited. Clearly I was wrong about the context/sentiment, as AVEO made it into the 2's during the next week and was able to stay up there. Again, I get the sense that pre-evaluating context is where I am lacking.

There was a nasty downward gap from 5.5 and a failed spike at 6.0 in the past year. The after-hours/pre-market crowd had pumped this up to a peak of 5.75, so it was already near resistance. Also, the news was only that they were planning to resubmit a previously failed application to the FDA. I had also found mention of a previous patent lawsuit that would come back into play if they ever did get approved. It began the day breaking down pretty hard and I got in at 9:31.
