If you have a margin account set up you should be fine to short sell.
It's an E-Trade rule. Read this: http://www.timothysykes.com/blog/can-you-short-sell-stocks-under-2-can-you-short-sell-stocks-under-5/ Interactive Brokers doesn't have such a limit: https://ibkr.info/node/285
Just don't ignore the $2.50 rule either. Make sure you can afford it. http://tradetheticker.blogspot.com/2014/02/question-what-is-250-rule.html

[TimChallenge] Agree with you guys on $BSPM

[TimChallenge] $BSPM looks like a great Tim G short... But on a Friday? I dunno

[TimChallenge] does anyone see any news on $BSPM today?
My bad. I meant to say Interactive Brokers
@Ucla1204 @Ucla1204 Are you kidding me?? IB borrow are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Etrade, not even close. IB and Etrade should't even be in the same sentences. I first stated with Etrade but then i became a better trader and needed a better broker like IB. Etrade is the worst you won't be able to short anything and none of tim type of plays if you go that route.. IB is the best broker for borrows/shorting period. I been using IB for 10 years
Michael goode has a good video on how to set up your shorts column https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipR-eBlbCZI
and this trader explains the in's and out's of IB. She is very good. I learnt from her https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWTWz2GZq30&t=1005s
