I messed up and entered the wrong password when trying to verify my trades and now I wait until eTrade allows me to connect again. I'm not proud of some of my trades, but they are what they are and I need to have them here to learn from.
Been trying to exit quickly when my thesis proves wrong, but not getting the exit price in and executed fast enough. Price moves faster than I do. The result has been chasing exit executions. Will have to get ahead of the price direction.
Another screw up has been increasing size when price appears to drop to a resistance and turns while I am entering my exit. This has really cost me. Goes back to "sticking to the plan," which I haven't done. I have caught myself overtrading and have that under control.
I do great real-time paper trading, but not so much in real trading. My first mistake when I began actual trading was trading (size) like I did paper trading. That didn't work out. I have to resist that and only trade small until I get used to the nuances of real trading.
One stock ( $WORX in on 9-16-20, finally out on 11-25-20) I didn't take my profit when I knew I should and it turned against me quickly. I later realized I was "hoping," and ended up holding the bag after the bottom fell out. Looking at the longer range chart, it looked like it would come back to around 2. I was right about that and got out on the spike with a $539.50 profit, but it was a terrible trade. The weeks I was bag holding were miserable. I don't want to go through that again.
I seem to be taking one step forward and two steps back. I went back to studying, then began trading again. Did good, then bad. Going back to studying again. I haven't blown up my account, but have lost about 10% - and that is 20% too much. I lost about 10% before, went back to studying, then gained most of it back. Yesterday and today I lost it again, so back to studying.
I will get there and be consistently profitable while cutting losses quickly. When I begin real trading again, I will be trading small and focused on taking profits faster and cutting losses much quicker. Not cutting losses quickly has been the major problem for me. Will get better at planning and actually sticking to the plan.
