This was my first week trading. I have been getting up early and watching the market open and closes throughout this week, and watching Tim's videos throughout the last couple weeks. I also did some "paper trading" in excel looking for trends. I used ThinkorSwim to track charts and create some growth and panic scanners and I used e*Trade as my broker.
On Thursday I was starting to get comfortable and decided to make a purchase. I watched throughout the morning but still was a bit nervous to pull the trigger. It reached midday and and activity fell so I spent some time watching more of Tim's videos and tweaking my scanners.
By afternoon I had several tickers that I saw potential in and finally pulled the trigger on GLBR. I saw the stock was gradually increasing all day and saw volume increasing so I expected it to have a bit of a spike, hoping for it to reach $1 which it had hit previously. I bought at $.66 and it did increase but started to get choppy so I exited early taking small profit.
I also was watching VTGN and saw that the last few mornings it had spiked so I bought in afterhours after it had fallen to $1.8. I was hoping it would hit 2.5 the next morning based on a HOD. The morning after I logged in and noticed it had hit 2.3 in early morning and was falling so I sold at 2 in order to capture my gains.
Friday morning after selling I was watching the charts and my watchlist and noticed GLBS falling and was hoping to buy into a morning panic. It only increased a bit and kept falling so I got out quick taking a small loss.
I was also watching STGG which had gone from less than a penny to .70 the day before. It had already reached the previous days volume so I decided to get in early. I attempted to buy at 1.3 but by the time I had completed the order it was at 1.7. It kept spiking, hit 3.70 and started to fall down so I sold and got out at 3.3. Overall a great win, though perhaps more risk than I should have taken.
At that point I realized I had reached 3 day trades, so most of next week I will only be able to do overnight trades due to the PDT rule. A little annoying but it will be good practice looking for some gap ups.
Thanks for reading, I just figured I would summarize my trades each week so I could hopefully see my progress.
Thank you for sharing.
Good recap and sounded like solid plans. Thank you for the post of your first week and very successful too!
