Good mmmmmmoooorrrrning!!
Let's set the scene for one of my worst trading days:
First, a small loss from an overnight trade. No big deal. Just go to work, take opportunities as the present themselves. Not feeling so great physically, and mentally a bit tired, but no big deal.
Enter, $TSLA.
I noticed it earlier in the morning, because it looked like a great multi-week breakout pattern. Did a quick trade that recouped my overnight losses.
Evolved Trader sent out a trade alert for $TSLA, so I took it as confirmation that I was on the right track. Sadly, it turned out to be a dud, and gave back the small profit from the morning.
Enter, $SLV.
Looked like a bearish (fading) pattern around 10:00am, so this ignoramus bought a couple cheap Option Puts. Another loss, as it bounced and squeezed out of my comfort zone.
No big deal, $TSLA was looking good again, so I'll get into that.
Enter, bad news.
$TSLA was actually breaking out so great that I had made up for all the morning losses, and then some.
But did I sell into the strength of the move?
Nope.
Like a monkey holding onto his used banana peel, I held onto the position.
Truthfully, the stock probably would have continued to go up, but the market began to crash all around because of bad news on the relief package Congress had been working on.
Instead of selling, I held, hoping it would bounce.
Nope. Just nope.
Sold for an even greater loss, as it continued to plummet.
But what's this? Another Evolved Trader Alert on $PTON???
Redemption!
Nope. Just nope. Again.
Another loss.
And so the trading day ended with my closing the trading app around 2:00PM and saying, "No more today."
It's a good idea to "Stop while you're still ahead" but it's also a good idea to "Stop before you get even further behind" ;)
Lessons learned:
1. Don't overtrade
2. If the market is crashing all around the stock you're in, GET OUT.
3. Dr. Pepper is cherry flavored, and has caffeine.
4. Don't trade when you're in the ER while getting a heart issue checked out. But that's another story from today I just won't get into.
Have a great day everyone! Stay safe, and be blessed!
