@RustyRyan13 You ask how he made money. When you "Short" sell stocks you are in effect getting paid money on shares that you borrow. In other words you are selling shares you don't own using margin credit and yes of course you have to buy those shares at some point in order to give the shares back. Buying those shares later is when you "Cover" your borrows. If you short at a high price, say 500 shares at $10 and cover at a lower price, say 500 shares at $8, you get to keep the difference which is a profit. short @ 500 x $10 = $5000 & Cover @ 500 x $8 = $4000 so you would make $1000 which is the difference.
