Earlier today, while watching $KBLB, my Level 2 window in ETrade Pro didn't update my Level 2 window correctly. Looked like there was a 15K chunk for sale @ $0.0715 ( or something like that) but it didn't seem right because prints were higher. Sure enough, I changed the ticker to something else and then changed it back and it cleared the 15K that wasn't there any more as I suspected. This has happened to me too many other times to believe that it was just a coincidence in my timing.
Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure that I've only seen this issue on the Ask side of the Level 2 window but it possibly could happen on the Bid side as well. When ever this happens I'll see trades going for a price that's higher then the lowest Ask. Some times this happens when there is a big spike and I think that's just people freaking wanting to get in so bad that they go for the 2nd lowest priced Ask instead of the first. But if I repeatedly see trades going for a price that's higher then the lowest Ask, a lot of times just by switching the ticker quickly it will refresh. It doesn't even matter if you mistype and type in a ticker that doesn't exist. When you change it back it should refresh.
Once again, I've seen this problem a lot so I just figured that it was something important to bring up.
Let me know if you've had similar issues,
Rob
Yes this happens to me occasionally. I always thought it had something to do with disconnecting and reconnecting to the servers or leaving it running for lengthy periods of time. Never found an answer but like you said a quick switch of tickers fixes it for me. Hasn’t happened enough to bother me too much tho. Plz do lemme know if you figure it out tho
