For those of you using the Etrade Pro software I find this very helpful and can help you save a lot of time. I have been using Etrade Pro for a while but never placed a trade until the other day. I was trying to sell at the market open but my orders were partially filled so I tried selling the rest and my orders kept getting rejected. After calling Etrade and wasting a lot of time I found out that you have to cancel the order that you first put in to sell your shares and place a new sell order in order to sell the remaining shares or else your order will keep getting rejected.
Another useful tip is whenever you launch your Etrade Pro software, login and everything but nothing else pops up after that, then simply open the software again and once your at the login screen again at the top upper right corner click on those two gears and click "clear cache", after that it should be back to normal.
You will not be able to sell shares you already have an order in for so this should not be a surprise.
