I currently am participating in a trade on $HTGM and im struggling. I pre market watched it, up on potential clinical applications of their HTG Transcriptome panel in bladder cancer. So it was up around 50% on that news, low float, traded almost twice its float pre market.
I waited 15-20 minutes after market open for a morning panic or dip, people taking their gains, but it popped up to 1.25 and came back and held the 1.18 area. I bought in at 1.18, it ran to 1.23, back down to the 1.16-1.19 area. Added to my position at 1.18 again. Spiked back to 1.24, down to the same 1.18 level and held. Added again thinking this is good support. It ran back to 1.26 this time. like ok, I should take my profit. But I talked myself out of it. It came back down to the 1.13 area, touched 1.10, i added more at 1.13.............. sigh....
Well, it ran to 1.30. Do you think i sold even though in my head i hear Tim Sykes saying TAKE YOUR SINGLE YOU IDIOT!!! Nope. It came down to 1.07 maybe 1.05, idk i looked away, i couldnt watch.
I ignored his 1st rule too. I'm still in the trade... It has recovered from 1.05 back up to 1.15. But needless to say, I'm analyzing the chart and noticed my mistake. I shouldn't have traded as early as I did. The past few stocks I watched the past few days all had a big dip around the 10:20-10:30am area and then a bounce after. I should have been patient.
I sat down at my computer thinking I had patients, but after sitting back and re-evaluating myself as well as the chart, I'm like, I am an idiot. I wasn't patient.
Im hoping that I learn from my mistake and me writing about it, even though my trade isn't verified or posted on profitly, that I'll wise myself up and make the right play next time. I could have profited. I'm still holding my position. So I'm still not playing it right. Hold and hope which i know is horrible.
Anyways, I'm trying to be more transparent. Hold myself accountable.
Held on through mid day, It made a run to 1.30. Sold at 1.26 for a gain. It failed the 1.30 break out. It's still holding the 1.27-1.30 area. Done trading but I'm watching. Currently in NXTP, bought this morning, dipped a little more, made a nice recovery through out the day. Not a fast mover
Since selling it has failed the 1.30 break out down to 1.21. Good exit selling into strength. Just wasnt good entry. If I was more patient, I would have been able to maximize profits
Hey man, great job on trying to be accountable. I too traded HTGM and bought in just after it first jumped to $1.23, but after I saw the stock meet resistance at the $1.20 mark I knew it wasn't going to run like I had hoped. Still ended up with a profit, but that was only because the stock popped of to $1.28 before dropping again. Definitely a pretty dissapointing stock.
