Two months have passed since I joined Tim Sykes' Millionaire Challenge. I have been learning a lot, and there is still so much more information that I need to go through. I am very impressed with the amount of information I have received, so I decided to take advantage of Tim's offer for a lifetime membership. I think it is well worth it, and I plan to dedicate myself to learning about trading for years to come. The chatroom during trading hours has helped me a lot. The webinars have boosted my knowledge to a point that would have been impossible for me to achieve alone.
I spent a short week traveling to my parents' house 450 miles away. My mom has terminal stage 4 cancer, and we are trying to move my parents to Vegas so that I can be closer to them when my mom needs more care. We are preparing their house for sale. I will be going back in July to help again. I'm hoping we can get them down here by August or September. It's a lot to deal with while studying a new skill, but I'm up for the challenge. I feel like I spent a lot of time catching up on videos and live webinars, and I only watched one DVD over the past two weeks. I'm hoping to have the time to watch two or three more DVDs over the next two weeks.
I have been trading a little more, and I have won some and lost some. I am ahead right now, but mainly I'm trying to learn how to keep my emotions in check during a trade. It's really hard for me to be patient when I am in the red. That has cost me to leave money on the table. I bought $IZEA at $0.93 yesterday, and I freaked out when it dipped. I got out with a loss @ $0.89, and a few minutes later it started soaring. In hindsight, I should have stayed in. It was more likely that it was going to go up, since there was good news and it had momentum already. I woke up this morning and the price was at $2.55!
I joined Mark Croock's Evolved Trader options program last week. I made a little money on his $BYND calls trade alert. I did not get the alert until the afternoon though, so I thought I might be too late. I bought only 1 contract and got out when I made $80. I saw the potential of options trading on this trade though, so I will have a little more patience on the next one. I am in an open position of $HTZ $4 puts right now. I was super nervous at first, but it is slowly fading away right now, so I am calmer. I am hoping it drops under $4 today or tomorrow. This trade is a good exercise in patience.
I have been watching Las Vegas open up slowly with a higher demand than expected. The casino that I work at is still closed, but other properties that have opened have had a lot of business. I heard that they have been increasing staff levels due to customer complaints of lack of service when they opened short staffed. This bodes well for me, as I might actually get my job back. I will still trade if I get my job back. I will probably be stuck on either swing shift or graveyard shift, so I should be able to easily schedule a block of time to trade during the day. I was planning on retiring early in 10 years with my union pension, but if I can retire earlier, that would be really nice!
I am really happy with trading. I feel like it's something I could enjoy doing for a long time, especially as I gain more knowledge and experience. I know from my experiences singing and performing on stage that the more prepared you are, the less stage fright you have. Once I am more prepared, I think I will be able to handle my emotions a lot better.
