I bought the book, "How Yoga Works" by Geshe Michael Roach back in May 2020. It was recommended by Michael Covel in one of the trader conference DVD's, and it was also a recommended read in "The Complete Penny Stock Course" by Jamil Ben Alluch. I started reading it right away, but I was also reading two other books at the same time. I had prioritized those two books over this one, mainly because I figured I wouldn't learn a lot about trading in this one. I was wrong about that, though I am glad I took my time reading it.
The tale is fictitious, and the story takes place around 1100 A.D. The main character is a girl traveling from Tibet to India to continue her yoga studies. She travels with her dog and a few belongings including her teacher's "Short Book" with all the yoga teachings written down. It is a beautiful and expensive book. She is stopped by a policeman and thrown in jail under the suspicion that she is a thief. The Captain of the jail believes that the girl stole the Short Book, so he bids her to teach him yoga to prove that she is the true owner of the book. This begins the teaching part of the book. While the reader follows the story, he/she is also getting an indirect lesson of yoga, and how it really works.
I found that as I read each chapter of this novel, I learned a little tidbit that helped me in life. Over the summer, I was reading it when I was still certain I would be called back to work. I was reading it when it turned out that they weren't going to call me back after all. I was reading it while I was applying for jobs and while I was getting rejected for those jobs. I was reading it when the extra unemployment ran out and we had to tighten our budget even more. I was reading it when my husband had his second stroke, and I couldn't visit him for a week because of COVID. I was reading it at my mom's bedside as she was struggling with the cancer, and I was reading it when she took her last breath. This book was a help to me during all of these difficult times and more. Every chapter had an insight that I could apply to help me at that moment.
As for trading, even though the book makes no mention of anything to do with trading, it does apply to the psychology of trading. It talks about putting out good vibes to others, and it encourages helping others. While working to get into this state of mind, you can accomplish amazing if not impossible things while on the journey. It also teaches perspective, and how to use it in your favor. There are so many lessons in this book that will help me as a trader. All in all, it's a good book, and I recommend that traders should read it. It is a book that EVERYONE should read actually. Maybe our world would be a better place if that were to happen!
My next read:
I have been fascinated with female traders recently. I found out that one of the traders that I follow, AirplaneJane, had written a "Market Wizards" style book interviewing women traders. I ordered a used copy from Amazon, and I ended up getting an autographed copy! I am really looking forward to reading this one, so I bet it won't take me 6 months this time, lol.

Sending you love, peace, prayers
@gil_fl You too! :-)
I would like to devote more attention to this book, but right now I have other higher priority tasks. I'm ready to graduate, which is a really exciting moment for me. I'm now finishing up my letter of recommendation. I located a source that can help with this https://www.lorservice.com/ I opted to acquire a letter of recommendation. I'm hoping to accomplish everything correctly and get a good score because this is crucial for me right now.
