First off, I'm not here to write an essay, but there were some key lessons I learned this month that will stick with me forever. The market shifted to it's summer ways and I did not adapt to it nearly as well as I should have. I made so many small mistakes this month, including forcing trades that were not completely ideal, trading far more than I should have, letting my settled cash amount effect my trades, trading less ideal setups while leaving my best to run without me, not waiting for correct confirmation, and letting my emotions get involved. These are all the lessons I tell myself every single day, but I was no where near as disciplined as I need to be. Most all of my mistakes from August consist of me not following and executing my plans the way I need to, therefore leading me to far more losses than I should have taken. I know for a fact my strategies and setups are profitable, but discipline and patience are the most important aspects of my trading, and this is what happens when I miss the mark on both.
With that being said, I am excited and ready to move on to September. I am making some big changes that I have been reinforcing to myself daily, but enough is enough, no more making these simple mistakes I know I can and will prevent. I will trade less, I have made a distinct checklist I must check off before every single trade, I am strictly enforcing my discipline and focusing on the best while leaving the rest and following my plans the way I prepare them. What really lit a fire in me that I said to myself over the last few days was "I will not become a successful trader if I keep doing what I'm doing. If I don't fix the little things, I will be part of the 90%." With that being said, I am not using that as degrading, but more of a bit of a boost. I know I am going to be successful in trading in the future, and I will do whatever possible to get there and keep improving every single day, not only in trading, but in several other areas of life as well, because it all ties in together. Let's get after it, September, I 'm ready to go. New month, new opportunity, clean slate, back to the basics.
