I'm a fairly new member and trader who has gone out and researched here and there on YouTube, investment websites, books, etc.. As an IT professional, I know what it takes to run and maintain a website such as profit.ly. I appreciate the ability, FOR FREE, to see people's ideas on trades, catch some interviews of the gurus and keep track of my own trades, saving me time and energy.
Yes, you can eventually learn tips and tricks here and there on other sites, but it's a confidence booster when you're thinking about a trade and someone has shared the same idea, for the same reasons, here on profit.ly.
The abilty to chime in on a blog, or to post a blog such as this, to like minded people helps one's confidence. Being able to see my statistics and my trade comments helps me stay focused and encourages me to get better. I pass karma around when I see like minded people sharing, openly and honestly their thoughts and ideas, not because it's an 'in' to the latest stock, (who cares, next week it'll be something different), but because it offers value to the way I approach a trade, it helps me look at an underlying from a different perspective.
I receive this all FOR FREE here at profit.ly. (Now I'm a poet? What?)
Out of appreciation for this service and curiosity of those who've created this site, I've purchased HTMM from Tim Sykes, now on disc 9, and I've preordered Tim G's Trading Tickers(?). I don't need to trade just like these guys, but I want to be a better trader by learning from these guys. You can't expect everything for free, and if you paid nothing for it, you would find no value in it anyways. I believe I'll be a better trader and pay for these DVDs over and over again, from the knowledge I personally receive from them.
It's unfortunate when someone logs into this site and bashes such a great service, down plays other's successes, or simply begs for the latest alerts. Tim Sykes allows it here, same as on his YouTube channel, same as on his Facebook. I keep wondering why, but then I'm reminded about his transparency and his willingness to take the bad with the good. Go out and YouTube his videos, you'll see some bad trades and you'll see really good trades. I believe we all are as good of traders, if not better, but what Tim has is the willingness to share, to be open about his gains and losses, but more importantly HOW he gained/lost on a trade. I will never be as good at sharing as Tim.
Honestly, watching HTMM, I'm at a point where I'm laughing at the analogies, thinking what a goof ball and thinking to myself, "if I had a little brother, this would be him.". This helps me learn though. Some people can read a book and retain everything, others learn from visual and oratory, others by just doing. We all learn differently. Nothing is free, we will all pay for our education in some form. I'm a cheap guy, bought HTMM on sale. It has already saved me losing big money, so it has paid for itself already.....but I digress...
The main purpose I posted this was to tell those who are sharing, "Thank You". This is what I like about profit.ly, others willing to share their cheers and jeers on their day. I'm not confident enough or versed enough in the lingo to articulate my trade ideas, but I'm more than happy to share in the ups and downs of trading With you all.
Thanks again, I wish you all a successful trading week!
Sincerely,
Jeremy
