So I am still new to the stock market and I have a question. I tried looking this up but I couldn't find the answer. I see VTAE will spike over 50% in after hours so I wanted to buy it tonight when it was $4.11 but when I tried to buy shares ETrade wanted me to pay the after hours price of the mid $6. Why is this? It makes it hard to make money if ETrade make me pay the price of a share after it spiked before the market even opens. Any feedback will be helpful.

The price of the stock after hours is the current price per share for that stock. the stock will not spike 50% tomorrow, it already has. There is no way to buy the stock at $4.11 at this point in time, unless it drops back down to that price.
ok that clears things up.. Thank you for your help!
Not to be rude, but you might want to study a lot if you didn't know that. Stock market is a brutal place for beginners. Study up
