I’ve watched a ton of DVDs over the past six months and - as a challenge student – I wanted to quickly write a blog to summarise my favourite 7 to help you choose which one to buy. It’s the perfect time for you guys as there’s a holiday sale on all the DVDs.
It also means I don’t have to answer this question anymore which often comes up on my YouTube channel if you want to follow me on my trading journey.
Trader Checklist
Out of my top ten DVDs to watch I’d say this one is by far my favourite. The reason? It was the first time in my short-lived trading career when I actually felt like: ‘I get this’!.
Tim walks you through a completely new concept of trading where he actually creates a scale which gives trades a numerical value. The DVD really enforces the key variables and how much weighting you should give to each – and it’s free!
I can’t stress enough how much I loved this DVD and I watched it twice over.
How to Make Millions
It’s funny as this DVD is a little older now, Tim released it a few years ago, but the information is timeless. Brilliant guide for beginners, everyone I’ve spoken to sees value in it. It’s basic stuff but you need to learn and remember: ‘Buy earnings winners and contract winners - short on the first red day.’ These lessons and much more are in this guide.
Pennystocking Framework
Another video which taught me and completely influenced my trading for the better – the framework is an absolute necessity to know and understand how patterns play out over the long-term.
At first, I wasn’t sure about this one as it is a video film of a conference as opposed to his other recent DVDs. BUT, if you watch through I’d say Disc 4 is pretty pricesless and will definitely change your trading for the better.
Trade the Ticker
This one’s from Tim Grittani and it's cool how he includes live trading examples in his DVD. He also shows how he builds his excel sheet to map and chart data – which I loved. Again, another solid DVD and good to see an alternate trading style.
Spikeability
This is another of Tim’s DVDs and if you’re learning you’ll most likely be buying more in the beginning than shorting so it’s an excellent introduction to what type of plays you should be focusing on and when.
For some reason trading is extremely simplistic and complex at the same time. This DVD helps you unravel the madness and teaches which plays really to focus on. Watching this really reinforced the importance of volume for me – based on that I recently won $260 dollars on $MDGS when I saw the volume come in – thanks for lesson Tim.
Textbook Trading
This is a DVD by Nate Michaud which offers an alternate approach to trading and – from a completely technical stand point – it shows how a number of alternate patterns can work – great for a different perspective.
I actually lost money in the early days after watching this as I got over-aggressive trying different strategies. It’s a great watch and a worthwhile buy – but for those new to trading it’s almost worth sticking to one mentor and source until you nail it then consider others. Nevertheless, definitely a recommended watch.
Tim Fundamentals Part Deux
Just on disc one of this one at the moment but it’s a solid recap of what a ‘pump and dump’ is and how and when to take advantage of the mania which ensues through these manipulated stock plays.
There’s less of the ‘blatant’ type of these plays around now but it’s definitely worth watching to take advantage of stocks like $HADV now.
That’s a wrap for me! Hope you guys found this helpful – if so please do leave karma and comments – I like to talk to you all!
