When I first began my journey into day trading, many told me it was a waste of time and mere gambling.
Family and friends would constantly put me down, telling me my "dream" wouldn't last. After enough hate, they turned my extroverted personality into introverted.
I knew what was and wasn't possible because I saw the opportunity day in & day out.
I kept to myself while they partied, I listened while they talked, I believed while they hated, and I worked while they slept. Day trading certainly isn't easy, but it is possible.
One night in late 2017, I was asked to babysit my little cousin by my aunt and uncle; I agreed.
As soon as they left I started studying. Not wanting to get caught in the act, I was watching the time closely. Unfortunately for me, they came home early, and I was studying.
My aunt gave me a disappointed look.
Fortunately for me, my uncle came in and seemed interested in what I was doing. The first time someone ever showed a true interest.
I apologized for not watching my cousin very closely; he told me not to worry. He said, if you 'stick with it' long enough, you'll be a consistently profitable trader.
It would eventually pay-off. This same uncle was on Shark Tank, but never got a deal with the sharks. He didn't get to realize his goals, but he believed in me. I started young and had plenty of time, he said.
In 2018, I saw him at a family gathering and told him my profiting result was $30k. He looked surprised and super happy I was gaining momentum.
Then in 2019, I saw him while I was in the middle of my $RIVX short-selling position. I was feeling down and out. Nobody knew what I was going through.
I started telling him everything: My back against the wall with just a few thousand left to go before my Cobra Trading account went below PDT. Nearly down 100% on my position over a couple months. Bleeding 2-3% more each day. He told me to trust my plan and gave me a sense of comfort that no matter what I was learning and developing.
A couple of weeks later, $RIVX crashed and got halted. I covered my short position at $0.25 for a 95% gain (the stock traded as low as $0.0001).
This turned out to be my new biggest gain and first five-figure trade, but it meant a lot more to me that that.
After that trade, COVID became very prevalent... I haven't seen much of my family lately. I have not got to update my uncle all year.
I have used all the gas in my tank each day, dedicating everything I have to the market. This year alone, I have passed all my short-term goals.
I'm coming close to one of my long-term ... $1M. I'm currently at $900k, but I want to dedicate the last $100k in his name. I want to realize what he never got to but always believed.
All you have to do is, "Stick With It"

@Jackaroo Clearly this was about 3-31/2 yrs ago. Looks to me like a little confidence of someone believing in you can make all the difference in the world. Congrats on your success Jack! I truly believe we all have it in us & it just takes hard work & 1 person believing in you & believing in yourself. Your uncle is a great man.
@Jackaroo, I am a few years too late on reading the "blog post: Stick With It". However, it was very inspiring. What was inspiring was not the story in and of itself, but the idea that you choose to "believe" that sticking with something will reap a reward for you in the end. Having a belief is one thing, but making that dream come into fruition is another, which is extremely hard to do when you have not made it to the finish line to win the prize, and to be fair, Uncle Larry knew that for a dre
