Just started trading for real as of late. Learning a lot over paper trading. I had been waiting for the STT broker intigration due to not being too fond of my mobil e-trade app but starting to like it the more I use it.
Anyway
I had bought $ANY what I thought was a decient dip buy at .2099. I have been holding $ANY since 6/23 just for the fact that it stayed around 1 or 2 cents less from what I purchased it at on the day's closings. I'm trading at work so I'm a bit limited during the day as to what I can do trading wise and dont want to have too much going on at once.
All the time I held $ANY I could here Tim screaming Hold and hope is not a strategy, Thats pretty much what he had talked about all week to that point. Mistake #1
It wasnt a really huge position or dollar amount, but on the other hand I was stubborn and didnt want to loose $50.00 on it either..LOL "cut Losses quickly"!!! Mistake#2
The time spent tieing up my cash and time on that one trade I could have been trading something else more worth it and re visited $ANY another time if I had chose to.
$ANY Finished up green on Monday, gaped up to .25 Tuesday pre market with a bit of news. I was freaking EXCITED!
Mistake#3 and the biggest! At the open, the morning spike went up around .29 cents about +30% from my buy which THEN I should have have taken a $200 ish profit. BUT I guess I was feeling a little on the greedy side and I wanted JUST a little bit more!! Long story short my $200 profit ended up turned into around a $15.00 profit.
So learned a lot of lessons from this trade, guess you can say the hard way considering I would have much rather of had the $200.00
LOL.. This Trade makes me think all the times I tell my kids not to do something because I know better and they do it anyway.... and learn the lesson the hard way.
You know what you did wrong. That's the important thing. Well that and the hope you don't repeat the same mistake.
I did the same thing with $AVEO. I just started trading too & entered at 1.79.. went up to 2.05 & I kept thinking (hoping/wishing) it'll go higher, 4 minutes later I'm seeling at 1.90. Every mistake realized makes you that much better the next time though. Good luck!
Learning alot from real trading. So far small Profits and small losses. The learning is pricless.
