So I broke one of my own rules today and that was buying in to hype. I bought into XOMA this morning on this earnings winner and it actually spiked nicely (but not what I was looking for) and then faded as the shorts took over. This wasn’t even on my watch list and I need to stop doing that. I’ve been buying things off my watch list on hype and I end up losing or breaking even. I have to do a better job on focusing on strictly my watch list and if I do get a tip whether it’s on twitter or profitly, I have to really do some research prior to getting in. It’s a simple mistake that I will fix. I was looking at BTU the past few days (even though I haven’t put it on my watch list) and should’ve played that this morning instead of the hype. Regardless, I bet small and lost small and that’s important and I’m happy in that regards. Here’s a look at the rest of my watch list from last night. I’ll have tomorrow’s watch list out later tonight. Thanks everyone for the love.

AVXL – This broke out past multi-month support today, which means it could potentially spike huge with some more volume like it has in the past. It could be a fake out so be careful, but if it starts to pick up in volume, I would look to go long her. I think this can easily trap shorts and we can see $8 or so. This is always on my watch list just as an FYI but I want to start looking a little closer here with this breakout. This was up decent in PM and then plunged at the open down to nearly $4.70 before rebounding and climbing all the way back to green and closing at $5.48. Volume started to pick up a little here today so let’s see if more people get wind of the breakout yesterday. I’d love to see this hit $6.50 tomorrow.
BEBE – This was on my watch list the other day after it spiked up huge on Monday. It ended up fading most of the day Tuesday and then spiked and looks like it double topped at just under $0.80. It does have a little support at $0.64 so if it can hold that $0.64 support nicely, I may think about buying with the hope of a breakout above $0.80. Very little volume here as this faded all day and broke past support from the past 2 days. There could be a little support at $0.60 so if it can hold support there I may look to re-buy. Nothing really going on here for me unless we get more volume.
GNVC – Not much volume here however this earnings winner spiked over 50% today and held most of it’s gains into the close. I would love to dip buy this at $0.70 and I can see this breaking out above $0.80. This has spiked in the past up to nearly $4 from under $2 in 2 days so it definitely has the potential to run if we can see some more volume. Keep an eye out for that $0.80-$0.81 breakout. Volume dropped here dramatically after the big spike yesterday. This failed to spike in the morning and dropped instantly to $0.66ish where it held support the remainder of the day. No play for me anymore.
NSPR – This is a tough one because it’s so illiquid. Not a lot of volume everyday however, it has been on a nice run up since the beginning of March. If it can breakout above the double top of $0.96ish, it can be headed up another 25% or more. If not, it may be a good place to short this back down to sub $0.50. I would definitely be careful and wait for a heavier volume day. This just moves too slow. Off my watch
Here’s a few stocks that I’m always watching do to their volatility and ability to spike huge given the right catalyst or PR. Sometime they spike when they start to get near their long term support levels also without any catalyst.
VLTC, LIVE, HMY, TGD, AREX, UPL,
If you would like to know why these are on my watch list you can either ask, or go back into my watch lists from earlier in the year explaining in detail what I’m looking at and why.
FOMO (Fear of missing out). Totally agree with your views on sticking to your specified watchlist. Played $BTU (options) was up $34.00 p/l and got greedy and lost it all. Rookie mistake.
@Learningtotrade Failed to spike and really breakout today and then faded all day on lower volume. If it can hold $0.15 then maybe worth a buy but if it cracks, it's going down quick. No catalyst here
You called it. I was thinking maybe it had juice for another spike but its sitting at .1490 ish now
Thanks for your take on it!
