Something extraordinary is happening to me and my account right now and I feel compelled to write about it in real time as it is happening.
I am in the middle of "getting it". Things are starting to "click". It is a point in my trading career that has been elusive to me since starting in the Timothy Sykes Millionaire Challenge in November, 2017.
I have created this blog post to memorialize in real time what is happening. My hope is that it will also help traders seeking to reach this point of finally "getting it" and reach sustained profitability.
SO WHAT CHANGED?
A clear shift in my results came in the last week of December. That’s when things started to click for me. What happened is that I got tired and frustrated at my choppy results so much that I finally started to impose rules on myself in terms of limiting pattern setups that I would play.
I had a rough idea of what worked well for me and what didn't. So right away my process became a little more defined, I took fewer big losses.
And then over the New Year’s weekend, I got Tradervue, and then things took off from there.
I saw how much money I was losing chasing stocks and doing and trading random patterns. I also saw how much money I was losing buying the panic dips.
I was shocked to see the results when I tagged each of my trades according to the setup. I had no idea prior to Tradervue that I was pretty much the world's worst panic dip buyer!
So by the first trading day of January, 2021, I instantly adjusted my trading accordingly.
Tracking my stats and performance on Traderview helped me see that my best setup was WAY more profitable than all the others, so I sized in BIG on that.
I saw that chasing and trading random patterns lost me money, so I made a conscious effort to eliminate that. Dip buying panics lost me a lot money, but I continued to trade them but with greatly reduced position sizes until I got more confident and experienced better results.
Getting Tradervue was THE NUMBER ONE breakout catalyst for both my knowledge account and trading account. It has helped me in two account-changing ways:
1) The stats gave me the confidence to focus in on my best setups and to size in BIG when they presented themselves to me;
2) The stats allowed me to see where I was donating money to the market so that I could eliminate bad patterns or size down on patterns that I was working on.
Two key things happened simultaneously: My wins got bigger, and I took smaller losses and with less frequency.
My account steadily grew which lead to greater gains on my A+ setup.
I have made $37,312 since December 28, 2020, starting with an account size of $3,320 on that date. (I am Canadian, so I am not subject to the PDT)
"Compounding is the eighth wonder of the world", according to Albert Einstein.
Start tracking your trades so that you can know which patterns to eliminate from your game, which patterns to trust and size in on, and which to size down on so that you can improve your technique and confidence on. Listen to your stats, trust your stats, adjust accordingly.
My fervent hope is that all reading this can appreciate and learn from the experience of someone who is just starting to get it. I would love to read your feedback in the comments below.

@SeanLacap Love how you decided to share your aha moment right when it clicks. I've blown up as well and took a 2 year break before finding the challenge. Been tracking my trades by setups in Excel and have narrowed down my trading to 2 setups. I had a small starting capital so my gains have also been small, but you’ve confirmed that my process is correct and I just need more screen time/experience. Thank you for these blog posts, and for answering my question in chat re: $TRTC that led me here
@taiwan I do remember your question regarding $TRTC. Today was such a slow and red day. We were all searching for plays that were non-existent today. Your process sounds a lot like mine at the moment. Just need more screen time like you say!
@SeanLacap hey Sean great post please let me know how can I join Canadian challenge community. I am from Canada as well.
