I have made only 3 real trades so far and aside from the sloppy mistakes of first time traders, I have found one of my major weaknesses that can relate across all 3 of my trades so far. That weakness is entry point. I have watched all of HTMM, some of the dvd's twice, the trader checklist, and countless hours of the 4000+ video library. Yes, I can be as well prepped beforehand as possible, but if I have learned anything throughout my 6 years of training and fighting in the sport of boxing, its that no matter how prepared I am before the fight, I will never be able to excel until I am actually engaged in battle and put under heavy pressure. Once I am put under that pressure, I adapt and overcome to bring home the win. I may not win all the time, but if I win majority of the time I will be happy. That mindset right there is what I am transferring over to the trading world as I think I have found my new passion. I have done a month plus of prior studying and preparation before I even made my first trade and it was amazing. If anything, I have lost more money to commissions than actual mistakes as I make sure to cut my losses quickly.
My timing with entry point will only get better the more I trade. I don't trade often because of this uncertainty, but when I do trade I try to have good reasoning behind it and pass the potential trade through a checklist similar to Tim's(profit.ly/sss). I am down $50 with a small $500 account, mostly because of commission fees, but with that has come experience and understanding. With my work ethic and abilities I bring to the trading world, I can only get better from here.
Happy thanksgiving to all, just wanted to share as I am probably going to be using profitly as my journal!
@Wallstreetfinest awesome, I will check it out later today!! Thanks!
@Fruitarian Yes Ive tried paper trading, but like you said it doesnt give me that kick and its not even my money, where if I am trading with my money I am able to spot little details more effectively whereas paper trading I have the chance to be reckless without any consequence. IDK, I am more of the type of guy that likes to get in the action with small positions and learn from mistakes, as you can see I haven't done too much damage yet.
@damnitgoose I am going to stay away from Robinhood, I am more than happy sacrificing $10 to trade and having good execution and up to date info versus no commission but things don't execute correctly or only some. Its like an offbrand cereal, I'd rather pay the extra $2.50 to have that savory taste. Thanks for the recommendation though!
Sometimes bad executions are just bad Wi-Fi. I had that with ESEA I couldn't place the order on time due to connections so got filled high at 3.57, lucky got out even.
