The stocks on my watchlist from the previous night weren't doing so hot, which is fine, so I moved on to the pre-market movers. I look for stocks with 5-10% change, volume over 5,000 and float under 10,000,00.
IDXG
The one stock that popped up was IDXG. It was up due to news on patent approval. It had a big spike premarket and then it dipped for a while before climbing back up but it failed to break the previous high. And the next high was lower than that. ( Looking back I see why I didn't do so well with it, I should've examined the pre-market better.) My first entry was at 2.86 at 330 shares when it seemed to have bottomed after a small crash. I thought it would bounce back because the dips on news always do. It went up 4 cents but failed to break 2.90 so I got out at 2.87 for a $3 profit. It's a good thing I did because then it dropped 12 cents. I should of left it there but I thought it would turn out to be a U-shape pattern so I re-entered at 2.75/360 shares after it made a higher low. It held for a minute and went back down so I got out at the same price and broke even.
So that's how I ended up using two day trades horribly. I also had CYCC on my watchlist but I didn't wanna use my last trade up so I just paper traded. I got in at 4.30/1000 and got out at 5.54 for a $1,240 profit.
I want to learn more about over night trades so if anyone has any tips, please comment below. I need to learn to pick my trades better and be more patient. I want to always buy the exact bottom but it's not how it works and I could save a day trade and a lot of money if I just wait a couple more minutes.
Hopefully tomorrow goes better.
It will. Good job tho!
Thanks :)
Strong closers with good news are usually your best bet with overnight longs. Personally I like to see breakouts that can hold like $CYCC today is a very good example. For overnight shorts if you are confident with shorting, first red day on a hot stock seems to work the best right now. Hope this helps. Watch Tim's videos and you will learn a lot about holding overnight and intraday both.
@SJTrades yeah I'm analyzing plays like CYCC and other strong o/n plays and finding similarities so I can be ready for the next time it happens. Thanks for the advice it really helps :)
