Right now I currently have a margin account with Scottrade. Today I tried to switch to interactive brokers but unfortunetaly I was unable to open account because I am only 18 and you need to be 21 to open a margin account with them. I decided to stick with a Scottrade margin account for now even though I can't short stocks under $5, and often times they don't have shares to short. Also the commissions are very high. Any advice?
Is there any way to get past the 21 rule for interactive brokers?
Thank You!
I think the only way around the 21 rule is to have your parents open an account with 10k, and then open your own account off of theirs. I'm on the same boat with you, and it seems like the only solution besides that is E-Trade.
etrade
Etrade Pro or if you have enough for the minimum go with Interactive Brokers(especially if you're going to short sell)
I suggest Etrade. I just moved back and they have a 3 month trial on there 2nd level platform. Dont forget Tim will be using Etrade next year also. Good Luck
