Since I started trading stocks again a couple of months ago after a 5 year hiatus (that's another story) I had an experience while trading a stock, NOK, which must be what is referred to as 'trading in the zone.'
I saw that the stock was fluctuating up and down one penny with a lot of volume. Now, I know Tim says don't be a scalper. However, if you've ever worked for minimum wage, you know how much you make in a day. By trading 15,000 shares at a time in my verifiable practice account, I was making $150. per every minute or two or three, depending on how fast I could type my orders and how quickly they were filled.
$150 is more than you can make in one day and I was making this in a couple of minutes or so. I kept doing this over and over again. During a two hour period of time, I earned $4500. I hope these trades were filled by a computer system and not some poor broker guy who had to fake buy and sell for me every minute or two, for two hours. If so, that guy really earned his pay that day! lol
To make that money, it was like stealing candy from a baby; only better because there wasn't any baby crying to make me feel guilty. I basically laughed my head off in delight for two hours while I kept saying, "Wow! This is so easy! It's like stealing candy from a baby!" This is going to sound hokey but it was like I was 'one' with the stock and riding it like a surfer on a wave or playing it like a violin! Two hours passed but it felt like a few minutes. It was sweet! I think I was trading in the zone. It was a very cathartic experience.
Then I 'felt' the pace of the back and forth penny movement start to slow down. That's where I finished my trading for the day feeling great.
I can't help but wonder if it's possible to some day get so good at playing stocks that it's like playing a violin or easy, with experience, like stealing candy from a baby, more times then not.
The Zone is a cool, fun place to be in, if that's where I was. I hope to be there again real soon. I wasn't aware of being in the zone for my other trades. I wish you the zone experience as well. Thanks for reading my blog. Happy trading!
THANK YOU so much for this post! It's eye opening. Best of luck in all your trades.
