Tim if you ever get time to see a movie watch "The Big Short" i havent watched it myself but it is about a hedgefund manager betting for a crash decades ago & everyone hated him. He predicted it. It's based on a real story gonna watch it sometimes if i get time.

On TOS you can put in any kind of order, Limit, market etc. You just have to click on the bid or the ask on level 2. or go to the trade tab

I have been a student since late August... and wish this video existed. I just started using all limit orders very recently ( after seeing 1st hand how shitty a market order can be). But what you missed to cover and I think what newbies need is how to determine the LIMIT... from the bid and ask! what is chasing what is not ( I know their are variables) and explain how they actually work. because the brokers don't either! I would especially use market orders to get out in a panic bc moved 2 fast!

@timothysykes You can set LIMIT orders with TOS paper also. Took me a minute to figure I how to do it also

Tim, I was wondering, does the same procedure work for trading after hours and pre-market. I noticed TOS will not let me do it, or maybe I'm just missing something. Anyone using TOS have this problem?

If you right click and press buy, then you can do a limit order on TOS paper money

TOS can do LMT orders you just have to edit before you send.

Tim just an issue with leaving a GTC on a future short... Today TRXC actually had a 100% borrow rate! That would be no good if you got filled before checking the borrow rate and it was 50%+... Just a thought.

@timothysykes I asked the lady in an IB web trader webinar & she said it times-out after 9 mins of inactivity. I set a timer & make sure to click around a few times within that window to prevent it.

Need a karaoke version of No Borrow No Cry lol. Great info here on the details involved in creating orders. Do NOT use Market (MKT) orders ever! Its better to miss a stock than trust someone else with your money! Good till cancel (GTC) really only useful for finding shares to short of blatant pumps like XLIT
