Failed morning spike on earnings winner… Very surprised by this. Could be the result of a weak summer market.
Tried to dip buy what I thought was a breakout on the intraday chart. After debriefing the trade I realized that the daily chart didn't support the trade. Lesson learned - make sure both the intraday and the daily charts support the technical breakout plays.
I originally thought I sold too early, after my initial sell at 7.06 the stock spiked to the high 7s. Luckily, I accidentally only sold 100 shares at 7.06 and to my surprise the next morning when I checked my account I still had a position in this stock. There was a little bit of morning panic the following morning so I ended up selling, but by far my most profitable trade yet.
First Profitable trade! :) Turns out I sold too early... could have made another 10 cents a share but I was happy to be on the right side of a trade for once.
Right stock pick... TERRIBLE timing. If I had bought a little earlier in the day or if I had held on to my position and had been patient I would have made a killing. Lesson learned for next time.
I ended up chasing Tim's buy on an alert. In fairness, I thought it was a good trade... The market just didn't react as expected. Another failed spike because of the down summer market.
First trade... had a 300K seller come in and kill the momentum. Otherwise I think it would have kept breaking out.
