@kroyrunner hey tim I have a small account and have to follow the pdt rule so I have been trying to hold more stocks overnight so they wouldn't count as day trades. I was wondering what stocks/patterns you hold overnight and what stocks/patterns you would never hold over night because they might gap up overnight. Thanks
@jollar I was wondering how do you decide how many shares of a certain stock your going to buy? In other words how to you control position sizing? I'm new to trading any help would be appreciated
I never use more than a third of my account on any trade. It really depends on your level of comfort with each tick. 1000 shares is $10 gain/loss per penny move. So, if you freak out over a $100 loss, after a $0.10 move, then you're trading too big.
thanks. I read in a blog that using the equation (max loss in dollars/risk in cents) equals the number shares you should buy (explained in this blog http://www.tradetheticker.blogspot.com/2014/02/question-what-technical-indicators-do.html). I'm still paper trading and i use this equation to calculate how many shares I should buy and sometimes I just feel out the trade by the chart to decide how many shares i haven't yet figured out which works best just thought i would share and get an opinion

sorry but i really don't swing plays much these days, if long i'd only swing a multiday breakout setup, for shorts maybeee if it's after first red day on a way overextended daily chart
