Bill: thanks... I've been trading since December. I was trading way too big when I started. Over the past 6 weeks or so I have traded small enough to not freak me out. It allows me to trade the pattern and not the P&L. I have finally began to be consistently profitable. Gotta dig out of a hole now... very slowly right!
is there a percentage that you would say would be a safe position size ? for example 20% of your account or 30,40..etc??
I do not think there is such a thing as a "Safe" position size. In every trade you take, all could be at risk. The answer to the question is how much you are willing to lose in a single trade, that is the safe size. I have been using about 10% of my account on longs and using a stop based upon technical analysis at support. Sometimes I will use 20% depending on where the stop is.

@YaEazy85 How do you find stocks to trade?

@chkleigh just became a fully transparent trader today!

Sure Trader is a get what you pay for, the web trading is very basic and not good, every now and then you will have issues with them, that is just how it goes, i recommend doing what evveryone else does, use it go get out of the pdt transfer your money and leave a small ammount in there because they do have shares to short often.
if you can pay the $50 a month fee for there DAS trader platform, less issues.
The fees for a round trip trade of 100 shares come out to $10.52. The breakdown is $9.90 in commission fees and .62 cents in ECN, SEC and NASD Fees. ECN Fees are the most. A round trip trade of 1800 shares would cost roughly $21.00. Anything more than 1800 shares would begin to cost more than E*Trade, who charges a flat $20 fee regardless of the share size. For someone with a small account who wants to practice trading 100 to 1000 shares at a time
so i decide to try out option house. $4.75 flat rate for trades might still give suretrader a shot just to practice shorting and avoid pdt rule thanks for all the great feedback and support... hopefully i can bounce back from these losses soon. by the way do any of you guys have tims dvds?
