So i lost $49 on DMPI this morning. There is a clear multi month resistance level at 2.84. However, the stock was forming resistance at the round number of 2.00 pre market. I formed the plan that if the stock went down to 1.75 support, as it had done already, i would buy the dip. Out of the gate, it dipped down to a higher low, 1.80 and started ramping back up. Now right there i should've bought, but i was a pussy and didn't. The stock broke past 2.00 resistance, went up to 2.20, dipped back to 2.05, i executed at 2.10, (CHASE) and it went to 2.30. Once it started turning i should've sold, but like a dumbass i held. It went all the way back down to 1.80, which was my risk support level, but like an idiot i sold like a pussy in anticipation.
1 HUGE LESSONS I TAKE AWAY FROM THIS. #1, seeing how the stock bottomed at 1.80, I should have been RESOLUTE to buy the dip and hold as long as that support level held, and not sell in anticipation. And since that was my support level, once the stock surged and broke past 2.00 i could've/would've/should've been selling into the second leg after the first dip., with support at 1.80, risking 20 cents on the down side I easily had a 2:1 average. Right after i cut the loss above 1.80 in anticipation, the stock touched support, then bounced back up. It is currently at 2.25 again. (Buy the dip at support and risk off clear previous support, and do not sell unless support fails. And sell at least 1/2 into the second leg after the first dip) That way you allow the breakout to work, as they do not always happen immediately, as Tim Grattani says all the time.
AGAIN-BUY THE BREAKOUT PRICE, RISK OFF THE PREVIOUS CLEAR RESISTANCE, AND HOLD THROUGH THE FIRST PULL BACK AND SELL INTO HALF INTO THE SECOND.
Pretty much the same mistake here. Could've made money, but got out way to fast and took a loss. When I am playing a morning Spike, I only enter if: Open is above, at, or slightly below G/R or Premarket Support level and holding. I'll wait until creeps above the mentioned levels and/or VWAP holding and making slightly higher lows all within the first 4 min or so. Timing an exit though is much harder for me, but selling into the second run after the first pullback is not something I thought of be
